Paint Oxidation Improvement in Jacksonville
Restoring color to chalky, sun-faded paint and trim.
Oxidation is what happens when UV breaks down the top layer of paint. On older vehicles, especially red and black single-stage finishes, it shows as a chalky, faded surface that no amount of washing improves.
Jacksonville's year-round sun exposure makes this one of the most common paint conditions we see on vehicles parked outdoors for years.

How much can be recovered
A great deal, usually. Compounding removes the dead oxidized layer, and the color underneath is often startlingly better. On heavily degraded clear coat that is already failing, the honest answer is that paint is the fix.
Trim and plastics too
Faded black plastic trim, mirror caps and bumper texture also oxidize here. Those can be cleaned and restored with dedicated trim products as part of the same visit.
Protecting the result
Freshly corrected paint on an older car needs protection more than any other vehicle. A sealant or coating is what stops the process starting again immediately.
What this includes
- Compounding to remove the oxidized layer
- Refining pass for gloss and clarity
- Faded exterior trim restoration available
- Honest assessment of clear coat failure
- UV protection applied afterward
Frequently asked questions
Can oxidation come back?
Yes, if the paint is left unprotected in the sun. Protection and shade slow it substantially.
Is faded clear coat the same as oxidation?
Related but not identical. Peeling or flaking clear coat cannot be polished back.
Does this work on older single-stage paint?
Often extremely well, since color sits right at the surface.
